What’s been happening:

Shortly after graduating PSU in 12/86 I returned to live home with my Mom in Brooklyn, New York. In April of 1989 I was hired as foster care caseworker for the City of New York and continue to work for this City agency---the NYC Children's Servcies--to this very day. I met the man who would become my future husband at a local Brooklyn church in 1994, and had a son, my only child, on July 4, 1997. In 2001, Children's Services offered me a full-time scholarship to attend Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW)and in the same year my husband and I purchased a three-family apartment building in Brooklyn, where we currently reside. After graduating from CUSSW in May of 2004, I was promoted to serve as the Deputy Director of the Child Welfare Policy and Procedure Unit, obtained my professional license (LMSW) in 2006 and will be celebrating 20 years of City service this April. When I am not at work I am helping the coaches of my son's youth football program, e-mailing my son's school staff about an idea, planning a family reunion, helping my husband with apartment renovations or writing a paper for school (Yes, I am taking additional social work courses at CUSSW toward obtaining a clinical social work license.
